The ideas are coming again. And I don't think anyone has ever these thoughts entertained.

Chin up. Every draft gets torn to pieces so a phoenix can breathe.

  2. Rising from the ashes, one of the most beautiful and poetic images. While I am glad that the ideas are flowing, I do think that doubt is an important part of the artistic process. For one who never doubts his ability will never strive to do better and is doomed to steep in the mire of his own mediocrity. From what I have seen here of your ability to weave words I do not think that will be your fate. May your doubts only ever be strong enough to spur you on to new heights. I am curious, though, whose words did you wish to steal?

  3. John Updike mostly. I adore his "In Football Season" because when I read it, this romantic tingling wells up in my heart. I read it periodically to remind myself of how it feels to be free and to be allowed to do something without being shamed by society. Reading "In Football Season" is like speeding in LA.

John Knowles too. He said something once, in A Seperate Peace, that I've always been trying to say, but can't. So I don't say it, and I wait, and read what he said again and again, until I can finally say it.

My own words are coming. My own voice to say them is coming too. I can feel them growing. Every day is baby steps; I'll be running soon.
